I got an old laptop for some remote control purpose and I tried installing Avira 10 on it knowing it is light usually. But it wasn't light enough and slowed down the laptop too much to be usable. The cpu in there is a P4 2.3 Ghz with 1.8Go of free ram with XP SP3, so I would have expected avira to fare well, but just opening the interface sends the cpu at 100% for 3-4 mins.
Anyone has done some testing on AV that could do the job on that old machine? Is MSE light? What about avast?
