Ever since I loaded the NOS32 trial the computer takes 3 to 4 minutes to shut down. If I unintsall it, it returns to the normal shutdown of 'bout 15 sec.
Anyone seen this?

I have the same question.......while I love NOD32...it has saved my puter several times.....it has slowed it down very much on shutdown......it takes a long time now.................
BTW.......the above link only takes you back to the forums......how are we supposed to know which one & where to read the information? Thanks.

Conversion from our former board software to this new one unfortunately does not manage these old YaBB links; we will manually correct them if necessary - as has been done in this case :)

*sigh* It appears that I will have to live with the slow shutdown of Win XP because there does not seem to be a good fix for this problem.
The reason this slow shutdown has me concerned is because I live in an area where we do have thunderstorms with bad lightening crop up quickly & a quick shut down is important. Even though I do have an excellent battery back up surge protector, I still would like to have the computer turned off in these thunderstorms as that is really the best protection. My system used to shut down very quickly but no more.

If really fast "emergency" shutdown is needed to avoid a thunderstorm just keep your power button held in:- that would be faster than waiting for all processes to unload and PC to shutdown normally no matter what you have installed(depends if the emergency outwieghs the need to save work I suppose!)from deciding to close to off in 10secs

You can modify your registry to shut down quicker while using NOD32. That's what I did to eliminate the "wait on service" slowdown.
I really don't know why this can't be programmed out. But then, I'm not a programmer! :D

I believe the default setting is 20000. I changed mine to 5000. Acceptable to me.
