For me its reliable. At least for me because I always examine the registry error and backup up it before cleaning.

I hate to sound like a broken record but IMO, automated registry cleaners are like rolling a pair of dice. Hopefully you'll dodge the 7 but the risk is always there. Unless you have a PC problem that is causing you to consider a reformat, you should not need a registry cleaner. (And if you are considering a reformat, it's still the best idea.) Do some web searches and read a few of the stories about how a PC major malfunctioned or would not boot after an auto registry cleaning. There is zero objective evidence that automated registry cleaners always make positive improvements on a PC.

If you must clean the registry, the only registry cleaner I recommend is Nirsoft's RegScanner. It's 100% manual searches and corrections/repairs. (Of course, use with extreme caution! If one is not sure what one is doing with RegScanner, you can cause big time damage.)

This doesn't mean you wouldnt have, windows will need an empty registry key to work with in future but it wouldnt be there, don't use registry the heart of windows OS.
