Stuck @ Boot Screen ### HELP ####

Hia All,

While new to these forums I am not new to using forums or pcs ;) I am new to Paragon, but not to partition managers etc.

Ok, I installed Paragon PM 9 and had an active Win7 on one partition and an old one on another partition that was not active.

After install I cannot get past the Paragon boot screen. It goes through the acer boot, enter boot pass, then straight into Paragon Boot Manager and no options to get into my win install.

I cannot boot from CD as this is disabled in bios and Acer wanted 70 Euros to unlock the pass (I never set a pass!!!)

The system was booting perfectly, I just wanted to get rid of the old win7 [RC] install and which was inactive and format the drive.

I can see the win install, but on boot it only gives me the option of booting into Paragon. I can see my win7 install on the drive when in boot manager, but cannot boot into it.

Now, all I did was install the software and reboot as thye software asked me to. Its Paragon Partition Manager 9 64bit.

At the moment, I have a laptop that was working great, stuck at boot! Any ideas or ways to bypass/unistall or just get back into windows would be VERY welcome!

The boot gives me the options of booting from [linux?] which must be Paragon or A drive which does not exist!

This is ridiculous, there must be a way of booting back into windows or bypassing Paragon and not being stuck at the boot options! This was simply after installing and rebooting! I am now left with a laptop that was working perfectly and is now useless!

ANY help, would be GREATLY appreciated!

Hello CSOSulla,

You need to update the MBR (Master Boot Record) which can be done a number of ways. If you have a Paragon bootable CD, you can either run boot corrector or right click your "Basic Hard Disk 0" and "Update MBR".

If you don't have one, from another computer, download the Backup & Recovery Free Edition and create a recovery disk from there.

Having some kind of bootable recovery media is a must.

You could try entering the common Bios passwords and see if that does it.

The problem is that booting from a CD has been disabled in the BIOS and the BIOS is locked.

Is there a way to repair the MBR from the Boot Manager?

Will the Boot Manager let you boot to a CD? If it does, you could boot to the manager, insert the CD (if not already inserted), and select it as a boot option.

Does the Boot Manager have the Windows 7 entry configured properly? I haven't ever used it so I'm not familiar with how it works.

Does the Acer have any type of standard BIOS reset procedure that you could use to clear the password? Perhaps it's corrupted.

I don't believe so.

He doesn't even appear to be able to boot into the Paragon recovery environment from the boot menu.

I assume he tried it.

Depending on the motherboard, Dell for instance, you can hit F12 to choose your boot media without changing the sequence in BIOS. If USB boot is enabled, instead of building a CD, make a bootable USB flash drive.
