Reading the comments over there it is the trial version extended with 60 days (and not supported).

Hardly a true "Giveaway".

I downloaded it, extracted the files, read the disclaimer, and deleted the files.
Not worth messing with under those terms. :thumbd: :thumbd: :thumbd:

That is not true and also off topic, they offer sometimes good give aways.

It is more an advertisement and a chance for AVG to reach more possible clients than a real giveaway.

Sorry for AVG trial mode

Hello everybody,

Once more sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

I think he ment just today's giveaway. Hence today's giveaway stinks. I also agree it does stink. They usually give away free software like Online armor ++.

You didn't miss much. This particular "offer" was hardly better than a standard trial you can get from AVG's website.
If you want more, go with the free Avira or Avast products.

I downloaded the offer because I thought it would be for a free one year license.
I'm not wild about AVG products, but I was more than willing to take advantage of a one year freebie.

As far as I can remember, this is the first disappointment with anything of interest (to me) offered by GAOTD.
My experience with them has been excellent, and I look forward to their offerings. :thumb:

No harm, no foul.

Well well, looks like i confused some guys around here.

Anyway, usually i like GAOTD's stuff.

Like yesterday's Win utilities pro and Jan 29's OA++ were the best i have seen. But today's AVG giveaway was misleading.

I wasted my bandwidth downloading it.

To anyone who were offended by my previous post, my sincere and heartfelt apologies :-\

I don't know if this is an AVG or GAOTD issue, but I at least remember when
Grisoft was different.

Back in the 7.5 days,AVG was not my favorite anti-virus,but during the periodic "dry spells" with Avira updates,I would download it.
The same with their re-brand of Edwido anti-spyware.

The AV was not stellar, but it was competent, and I still miss the anti-spyware.

I didn't encounter the fearsome "redsok" on the their forums, because I never went there, never needed to..
Things just seemed to plug along in predictable, yeoman fashion.

Something got lost along the way.

Yes i agree, AVG 7.x were awesome, but AVG 9.x is not as good as Avira or Avast.

A vs B isn't allowed - I think it's time to close this spam thread now :)

Because GAOTD immediately withdrew the AVG offer, further discussion of the subject is a moot point.

gerardwil, you're more than welcomed to post if you see the offer again. This thread is closed.
