this is the response I got when asking them about it

"To be precise, the Process Monitor component of Privatefirewall is disabled in 64 bit systems. While certain HIPS capabilities are dependent on the Process Monitor, it is not accurate to say that the HIPS functionality in Privatefirewall does not function at all as other components of PF (system/email anomaly detection) also provide HIPS-based defense."

thought I would post it as there has been questions asked about it. So guess it just not a full HIP?

It stands or falls with 64 Bit Patchguard - it seems actual not possible to run
any kernelmode based program to prevent intrusions. so thats same reason
that common known programs are only available for 32bit - eg. Malware Defender,
DefenseWall HIPS and some others. Even Sandboxie can not assure to be
100% save when used on 64 bit.
if you have read or will read this part of the forum you already have the (same) answer.

Yeah, unfortunately patchguard implemented by MS with 64 Bit is not a great deal for security software with some kind of protection... ::)

Another example is Zemana Antilogger:

Or Kaspersky Internet Security:
-{ Quote: "Please Note: Safe Run Mode doesn’t work with Microsoft Windows XP x64, and works with limitations on Microsoft Windows Vista x64 and Microsoft Windows 7 x64." }-
