hi
i used a lot time ago avast , the v3 yeah very old , and the first v4 version

after i dropped it and i bought nod

well i have a question about avast 5

does it read/open files like tiff , jpg , mp3 and other not dangerous files?

because the v4 does it

for me it's important because i work with a lot of huge images , and the v4 somtime did slow down my work

thanks

Version 5 can be set at a very granular level. So you have a lot of control of what it scans. My best recommendation would be to try it... :)

as far as i know at this time no skins for v5. i actually own a lic for ess as well as nis2010 among others and i have now switched all my systems over to avast 5 PAID versions. i really like it a lot. i also like essv4 though i did have a lot of issues with it, the newest version seems okay but i still do not like the firewall and at times it still gives me issues on the one system i have it running on. i really like avast 5 though its IMO WAY better than v4 was (which i did not use due to the fact i just didnt like it much)

ahh sorry i misread your post. do you mean the program actually opens? or that it will scan those types of files during scan or with the right click option? i know it does scan them for me. it does not open to scan them though when you say download them etc. you would have to manually scan them or rely on the real time scanner to do it for you.

now you can also go to the expert settings and add the .jpg extension or whichever you want to the exclusions list if you dont want those scanned.

thanks
i mean the real time engine
i will try the free version so i don't know how much can i customize avast

so do you confirm that the real time engine open to read a lot of in vain files like jpg and tiff like the old version ? :thumbd:

the only solution is go in the exclusion menu

this is boring ,it's only avast that open to read not dagerous files:thumbd:

thank you so much

The default for avast Free AV is 240 minutes (4 hours) and it can be lowered to 120 minutes (2 hours) -- lower values are ignored.

The default for paid avast (Pro AV / IS) is 60 minutes (1 hour) and it can be lowered to 15 minutes.

Thanks
Vlk
