Does anybody know the difference between the following settings?

Advanced setup > Personal Firewall > System Integration > Personal firewall is completely disabled

and

Advanced setup > Personal Firewall > System Integration > Personal firewall is inactive

Because, here's the thing: I have a client machine where firewall is completely disabled, yet I cannot VNC onto it (VNC uses port 5900).

One would think if the firewall is off, the firewall is off. Am I wrong here?

Thanks,
JJJ

Hello JoeyJoeJoe,

The following is taken from clicking the question mark in the top right of the advanced setup window:

-{ Quote: "Personal firewall is inactive - The Personal firewall is integrated in the system and mediates network communication, but checking for threats is not performed." }-

-{ Quote: "Personal firewall is completely disabled - Select this option to completely unregister the Personal firewall from the system. No scanning is performed." }-

Use the steps in the following Knowledgebase article to open the trusted port(s) in your ESET Personal firewall:

Thank you,
Richard

Thanks. I wasn't in the client window. I was in the policy editor. No description there, though I don't think it would kill ESET to include it, eh?

Thanks,
JJJ
