Hi Guys

One of our Comodo Forum Moderators (Languy99) has done a introduction review on CIS v4. It is NOT a testing review to test malware. This is only a internal alpha version that the moderators have, and some features are not added yet (Such as Behavior Blocker).

This version if CIS 4 introduces the Comodo Sandbox. All credit to Languy99.

Yes. :)

from now till final release there are still things to be done (as mentioned, this version only introduces sandbox). Behavior Blocker is not in yet, CTM Technology is not in yet, AV under the hood is still being worked on. But here you can see what is coming in v4.

Beta testing will be fun. ;)

Cheers,
Josh

Looks like the only real change in this version is the sandbox. Everything else appears the same.

I'm excited, but I guess I was expecting more additions.

A sandbox you say ... a Sandbox, Crikey!. Comodo are throwing the kitchen sink-and-all at keeping the common man in the street safe from harms way.

If they can't do it. No one can.

Tally HoHo.

You haven't used it yet mate... Your judgments are gonna bite ya in the neck. :)

btw: this sandbox is also 64bit compatible too.

Well as I am in the market for 64bit software I will give it a spin.

I am running 64bit too (Win 7). CIS v4 works flawless. :)

btw: Sandbox works as default deny... Unknown applications go in and good apps go out. Beta testing will give alot of feedback for this.

The addition of a Behaviour Blocker should be significant too,not least in giving D+ some better intelligence.

But when will it be ready? If it is not even in it's alpha stage, then will it even make it out in the next couple months?

You are exactly right. Very uncomfortable to eyes even.

personally i prefer more mild, neutral shades like the previous colour scheme

The desktop icon is white.
It seems they would match the color scheme for the icon and the GUI.
Not a huge deal for me, but I also think the red is a bit garish.

Aside from that, I am hoping a public release with the behavior blocker and integrated CTM is near.

I like that the new scheme is sharper, higher res looking, but I like the old colors are lot more. I really dislike the large red bar on top.

Downloading 90MB of defs is kinda annoying...

I believe that is just the initial update. Maybe someone can confirm.

Anyway in the final version probably comodo will have all the def's included in the .exe

Needs to be.
Because CIS installer (some a while) was 75+mb if I am not wrong.
Now, definitions are taken off and it's ~40mb (installer)

I agree, they should just pack them into the installer.

I install now avast beta 5 and quite so fast and good. And av comparatives already test it and it get higher rating. And its also have a sandbox.

I hope we also see comodo in av comparatives and as see on video, comodo is improving the "pop-up" thing. I don't have problems with the pop-up, the problem is the other users of this machine as this is a multi-user setup.

I think I will back to comodo if this is accomplished.

Thanks for the video :)

comodo def needs to get themselves into AV-C so people can really see how it does, they dont seem to be short on the resources to spend the money to join the tests so i dont see why not.

The consensus appears to be that it'll be finalised around March.Although by no means feature complete yet I've found the Alpha to be surprisingly stable so far.

An option to switch back to the old colour scheme would be nice.

As for CTM,it isn't going to be actually integrated into CIS,more a case of it utilizing CTM elements if the Time Machine is also installed from my understanding.

well i remember in options CIS used to have a skin area with a dropdown but only 1 theme was there, the default, im hoping its still there and they can actually make use of it by putting back the old theme in there so people have a choice.

so in other words, the over zealous Melih is saying that their AV cant hold its own so theyre not including themselves in AV-C, gotcha...::) as far as i can tell, EVERY AV in AV-C testing is tested without any HIPS etc (except the most recent one) so its an even playing field showing how well their heur and database really is, seems Comodo cant keep up.

Kyle1420
December 24th, 2009, 03:49 AM
Yes even playing field. Melih won't even participate in the latest dynamic testing from AV-C. There is an AMTSO meeting soon where various vendors and AV-C representatives will be.. Thats his chance to voice his veiws and the time for AV vendors to share with AV-C and amongst other things how they would like the tests to be done.. +, If comodo doesn't put their hands up for dynamic testing soon, they'll have to wait a whole year to get another chance.
AMTSO does not review a test until it's been performed, so if requested (No idea if it has..probably not) it will take awhile, AMTSO is for various reasons not the fastest in this aspect and comodo will not participate unless it's "AMTSO compliant" Btw, AMTSO compliant is just a word, there is nothing to certify that you are.

IMO, Don't count on comodo participating in anything this new year.

EDIT::
Hypothetical;
Comodo Participates in AV-C Dynamic testing.
Comodo does NOT participate in AV-C on-demand\retrospective scanning.

What does that say about the AV? ;)

There is still no way to trun on Windows native skin on comodo ??

Yes it's certainly something I'll be asking the devs to consider.I much prefer the old colour scheme,as it seems do a lot of others. The dropdown is still there in this version so it shouldn't be an issue to do so.

sounds great to me, its not like thers much extra they need to add to the previous theme to fit into this one, so it wuld be great to have an option for either.
