I have a fresh XP Home 32 bit install, with no internet connection to it at present.

I tried to install 2.07 "Fresh install (VC2005-SP1 libraries are not installed):"

When trying to install it I get this error message:

"An error occured while downloading a required file. You may retry downloading the file or cancel setup.

An error occurred downloading the following resource:
http://www.looknstop.com/vcredist/vcredist_x86_SP1_en/vcredist_x86.exe

Date: 12/13/2009 5:29:34 PM

See the setup log file located at 'C:\DOCUME~1\TRO1\LOCALS~1\Temp\VSD1.tmp\install.log' for more information."

Can't I install LooknStop first before I connect to the internet?

OK, figured it out. I can be slow sometimes. ::)

The file LooknStop installer was trying to get from the LooknStop site,

vcredist_x86_SP1_en/vcredist_x86.exe

are Visual C++ Runtime Libraries. (I believe specifically it was Visual C++ 2005 SP1.)

Because this was a new install of XP I didn't have them. And because it isn't connected to the internet yet, LooknStop couldn't get them.

So I got them from Microsoft and I transfered them to the new PC. I installed Visual C++ 2005, 2005 SP1, 2008 and 2008 SP1.

And all is fine!

Actually LooknStop asked me during the setup if it could install the Visual C++ 2005 SP1 files, I just clicked OK and figured they were in the installer. I didn't know they had to be downloaded.

Maybe this post will help someone else.

Addendum: I've been using LooknStop for years, since the Becky forums. Thanks for the update of an already great program. And thanks to the familiar forum members here that, even though I only visit about once a year, are still here helping others.
