So cisco puts backdoors in it's hardware so authorities can lawfully intercept your data:

Is it only cisco that does this? What if you used SSL and voip encryption?

A lot of networking-hardware manufacturers offer this features in complaint to government regulations.
It is not so weird, when you know that more and more governments around the world, by law, demand that internet service providers have an entry on their networks for lawful intercept-equipment/capabilities of their respective goverments.

Also keep in mind the new data retention regulation in the EU.
