(an integrity checking feature is what I'd love to see in future releases)

It is easy to do so using alternate Ubuntu installer (http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors#alternate) on system setup - Ubuntu Disk Encryption Install (http://security.unt.edu/resources/ubuntuencryption).
