NOD 32 Installation error. Please help. :(

Hello guys.. good day!
i was just wondering if cud give me some info of what should i do with this problem of mine.

I just uninstalled my Nod 32 AV den restarted my computer.. after dat, i re-installed it again.. after dat, during the installation process it said "could not write value to key/software/ESET/ESET Security/Current version/Info. Verify that you have sufficcient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."

Im confused about it.. hope u cud help me with diz guys..

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Hey Bigtand,

Try this:

1. Download and install SubInACL (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=E8BA3E56-D8FE-4A91-93CF-ED6985E3927B&displaylang=en) from Microsoft. Install SubInACL in the default location.

2. If you are running Windows Vista, click on the Start menu, choose All Programs, then Accessories, then right-click on the item named Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator

3. If you are running an OS other than Windows Vista, go to the Start menu, choose Run, type cmd and click OK

4. In the cmd prompt, type notepad reset.cmd and click yes to open Notepad.exe and create a new text file named reset.cmd

5. Copy and paste the following contents into reset.cmd:

cd /d "%programfiles%\Windows Resource Kits\Tools"

subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /grant=administrators=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER /grant=administrators=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT /grant=administrators=f
subinacl /subdirectories %SystemDrive% /grant=administrators=f

subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /grant=system=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER /grant=system=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT /grant=system=f
subinacl /subdirectories %SystemDrive% /grant=system=f

5. Save and close reset.cmd.

6. In the cmd prompt, type reset.cmd and press enter to run the SubInACL tool. This will take several minutes to complete.

7. Once the window disappears, retry installation of ESET and report back with your results.

You can try running the ESET uninstall tool (http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2289&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1257525224315) in safe mode to make sure there are no leftovers from previous installation.

Yes, it is safe. It merely resets the default permissions for the Administrators/System groups for all registry keys on your machine (and file locations as well). It's probably the solution to your problem.
