Server10 Edtn Windows 2003R2 64 bit resize

Looking for reassurance after seeing so many messages showing difficulties.

This is a production, line of business application server.

HP DL380 G5 with Hardware Raid 5. all logical partitions within the one array, none extended.

Need to resize first Partion which is used as C; system drive: currrently of 40 GB to 50 GB.

Plenty of space on the next partition(E:)

Only 1GB of unused space on C.

Am I safe to proceed with confidence using Paragon Partition Manager 10 Server?

I assume the routine is to resize second partition(E:) somehow ensuring that space is taken from the startof the partition as one operation.
Then grow c: as the second operation.

Any hints or corrections or other thoughts will be very appreciated as this looks very hairy from the contents of the forums. Starting to wish I had purchased the support package as well as the software assurance option.........

This is a very typical operation.

For best practices, we recommend you run a check disk on the E drive and defrag.

The most time consuming part of this operating is shrinking the E drive, and depending what you have on the E drive, you can do it live or requires a restart. Expanding the C partition is almost instantaneous and can be done in Windows.

If your E drive is used for storage, the volume can be unmounted in Windows and shrink live. If your E drive is used in a database manner, either the services need to be shutdown or a restart is required. When attempting to resize the partition, either the operation will go without a restart, or a warning screen will come up asking for a restart. On that screen, there's a hyperlink in the bottom left telling you which operations/processes are preventing it from being done live.

Now if the E drive is completely empty, the quickest way is to delete the partition, expand C, and recreate E. Otherwise, shrink the E drive from the left side to the right, to create the free unallocated space BETWEEN the two partitions.

We always recommend you break down the steps and complete one at a time. Don't stack multiple jobs in one queue.
