Greetings,

Windows XP Pro (SP3) fully updated as of 13 October 2009
Online Armor Premium (v3.5.0.50)
NOD32 (v4.0.467.0)

Installation procedure used:

1. Exit RVS 2008 Free (v2.0.1.9002) via right click menu of tray icon.
2. Disable NOD32 and shutdown Online Armor.
3. Uninstall RVS 2008 via Control Panel Add/Remove.
4. Reboot on the prompt.
5. Run CCleaner, including cleaning of registry items remaining from RVS 2008.
6. Disable NOD32 and shutdown Online Armor.
7. Run rvs_2010.exe Home Free (v3.0.6299.4937) with verified digital signature.
8. Chose NOT to run anti-malware scan within RVS 2010.
9. Reboot on the prompt.

Results:

BSOD at the Windows Welcome Screen with Error 0x0000008E.

Response:

Rollbacked system (via Rollback Rx) to snapshot made immediately prior to install attempt. That clearly precludes any log information being available. I simply did not have the time to play with this failure.

Any suggestions?

Best regards,
RL

You are using both Rollback RX AND RVS ???!!! No wonder you had a BSOD if it's the case. They both play with the filesystem and are not supposed to be together, like having 2 antiviruses. Well, it's just a guess. Hope you can sort it out.

Hi,
@MerleOne: Use of RBRX should not be an issue.

@RuyLopez: Have asked the team to look at your report

Good to know, I thought so because they have some common features, such as reverting the system to a previous state, and they both do it at sector level AFAIK.

Hi,
I was wrong with my first post and apologize for any confusion. You are correct that this is the source of the issue so RBRX and RVS 2010 should not be used in combination.

Greetings Mike,

Just for clarification, this would be something new with RVS 2010? Because RVS 2008 and Rollback Rx work just fine together in my experience.

Best regards,
RL

Yup,I can say myself,I used Rollback RX with Returnil 2008 with no issues.

Once again,2010 version of Returnil looks as though it needs alot more refining because of so many different issues.
