Hello all!

Today I downloaded and installed RVS 2010 on a Vista Home 64 bit laptop. I used 2008 version a lot on my desktop but have been waiting for the 64 bit compatible version for a while. Works great so far. I dont notice any cpu spikes or slowdowns or anything else adverse at this time. Just a couple of questions. I notice that in the event viewer under system, it reports the system shutdown unexpectedly every time I reboot with Returnil turned on. Is this anything to be concerned with? Also, is there a specific 64 bit version to download or only one download for both 32 and 64. I noticed it installed in the Program Files (x86) folder instead of the Program Files folder.

Thanks

Hi fosl and welcome to the forums :)

-{ Quote: "Is this anything to be concerned with? " }-

No, This is known. From the development team:

-{ Quote: "The root cause: When Windows is shutting down, it puts a flag somewhere that the shutdown is expected. However, because virtualization is running, the safe shutdown flag disappears after reboot, and here is the event log record." }-

-{ Quote: "Also, is there a specific 64 bit version to download or only one download for both 32 and 64." }-

The installer is for both 32-bit and 64-bit.

so anyone experiencing this phenomenon should infer from the above it's perfectly ok?

do you think it's possible to tweak it in the future? I hate the red flags.

Hi korben,
Your screenshot is only showing that there were shutdown issues, not what caused them. What are the technical details for each listed?

What version/build are you using and do you have the cache wipe activated? The issue sounds more related to an older build. If it is the current release version (v3.1.8774.5254-REL), please send the following to support (dash) tech (at) returnil (dot) com:

* C:\Windows\rvs3.log
* C:\Windows\rvs3-inst.log
* MSINFO32 report**

**Click START > RUN > Type MSINFO32. On the System Information screen click FILE > Export and then save the file where you can find it to attach to your reply.

What I had was the previous build...
I had to restore my system from an image anyway so...
Back with FRESH system + the latest build of R.

and the issue persists so I will try to submit what you said :)
