Hi.
Is some version of Prevx able to remove MBR rootkit sinowal.e (my antivirus find it as boo/sinowal.e). Someone had experience with it?
My pc is freezing after a few minutes, really nasty.
What version do I need? Do I need to buy it?
Thanks

I assume you have Prevx free installed. In order to clean from malwares you will need to buy the removal license, see http://www.prevx.com/freescan.asp -> tab comparison. Buying this license you are provided with the guaranteed malware removal, for more reference please see the said page as well.

I would recommend to do the following steps:
Use Gmers MBR fix: http://www2.gmer.net/mbr/mbr.exe
After that you should use Combofix:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix
After that run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
That should deal with your problems but i would also recommend to freshly set up your system after that.
Then you should buy PrevX to prevent your system from beeing infected... ;)

Prevx will remove MBR rootkits without the need of a license.

Quite right it does say that. The comparison chart though is a bit misleading in this respect though i think !

But nice for people to know there is a FREE solution to this nasty. Thanx Prevx.

Very good point - the MBR rootkit entry in the chart relates to realtime MBR rootkit prevention rather than on-demand. Prevx, for free, will detect and clean the MBR but the free version doesn't contain realtime monitoring so it wouldn't trigger the block in realtime.

That could potentially be a BIG problem then. If someone on Prevx free does get blasted with an MBR nasty, unless they are PC savvy, they wouldn't automatically realise what was happening. They could find themselves in serious doo doo, not to mention all the time they might waste trying to sort it out, if they could !
Can i suggest that, as you are generous enough to provide the free clean up for these particular nasties already anyway, including automatic operation instead of manual from now on, would be a great help.
