EmmKay, so I heard a new build of 3.0 came out, installed it over 3.0.684.Reboot and the epfwtdir did not start, tried to start manually, said the file specified could not be found.Go into registry services and delete, " even though the path and everything was fine when I clicked on each service "

Eamon
Easdrv
Epfwtdir

reboot and right click each INF in the drivers folder of the program files directory and install and reboot again, now is fine.

I still get the " Personal firewall An error occurred while starting proxy server. Checking of application protocols (POP3, HTTP) will not work "

In the presence of NTOSBOOT-B00DFAAD.pf on XP SP3 unless I change Easdrv from system start to auto or demand start.

Seeing how that was not fixed.... Dagnabbit Eset.... lol :-X

I thought this was a wide spread problem since XP prefetch is the problem, that means everyone who uses XP has this problem mabe they don't notice because their Egui tray icon stays green and they rarely check their NOD32 event log. They don't understand that when this happens that their web won't be checked for viruses I guess, which causes you to lose a layer of security.

Also something is missing if I go into advanced options. The first time I go in, it's fine, I close out and go back in I see this:

212123

Supposed to look like this, and it does the first time I go into Advanced:
212126

Only a reboot brings it back, but then it happens again, not sure if it because I did not clean install the new build...... just a heads up.

Nevermind, went back to NOD32 3.0.684 on a clean install and it does the same thing, I never noticed before. It's just the way I have something set up, As I have most of the email settings unchecked for outlook ETC.

Changing settings in one area of the ESET software causes other areas to sometimes change, and that's what you see there. If you have any other issues, please let us know.

Only other problem I have is this " Personal firewall An error occurred while starting proxy server. Checking of application protocols (POP3, HTTP) will not work "

Only happens on Windows XP while prefetch is active, If I delete the NTOSBOOT-B00DFAAD.pf file from the prefetch folder and reboot while that file does not exsist, that error goes away.Only happens with NOD32 3.0 and I insist on sticking with this version for my own various reasons, Windows 2000, Windows Vista and Windows 7 are fine with NOD32 default driver settings. The first fix was for me to download 4.0.437 and extract the MSI files and use the epfwtdir.sys of the 4.0 version and drag it into and replace the 3.0 epfwtdir. Then my second fix going back to 3.0 epfwtdir was to set easdrv.sys to auto or demans start, eset has it starting system start by default. Now I set up the INF's for the driver my own way and don't have to do either of the latter, I just wish eset would do a new build based on what I've said and fix it, so I don't have to every time I install it.Like I said, If i'm having this problem with prefetch somehow interfearing with this, then others must be able to reproduce the same problem on XP machines.Anyway, this is how I set up the driver INF's and I have zero problems now even with prefetch of XP left at the default settings:

Installed 3.0694.0 over the top of 3.0.684.0 on two systems, one Vista Home Premium, and one Vista Home Basic (32 bit) with no problems.

Version 3.0 is also there, you have to click previous releases.

P.S. Danutak, have you ever got this in your event log of 3.0 on your XP box ?

An error occurred while starting proxy server. Checking of application protocols (POP3, HTTP) will not work ?
