We are looking to implement a document scanner for our office due to our transition to web based software. We want to keep everything digital, so a scanner is our only option.

I need something that is relatively fast, can be networked, and doesn't cost a fortune. OCR is not required either.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've done some research but the ones I found so far are like $1600+. That's a tad outta reach at the moment if we can avoid it.

Thanks for your help.

Xerox and Canon have those, but are very expeense. Most client use a PC connected to a scanner and network that PC to allow others to use the scanner. Or remote into that PC to use it. Unless you want to spend some extra cash I would go with a Xerox network document scanner/printer/copier/fax or just the Xerox network document scanner.

There a different models, Xerox Rep always seems to do better with these with our clients.

The only caution to heed with the Xerox WorkCentre C2424 is that the unit is no longer sold as new.

WOW, $17,700 for one unit.....I do not fix enough computers to afford that.....

Yes, the Phaser 6128MFP $550.00 and Phaser 6180MFP $700.00 are excellent choices tipster

My choice would be the Phaser 6180MFP $700.00 - $900.00 because it appears to have better networking options

Good to know I am not the only person here who fixes (or breakfix hardware) Still the Xerox always have service contracts for their hardware, but it depends on which model. $17,700 are under contract. If not then we would step in.

Any of the Xerox would be a good deal. Price is high but still good. Xerox Production Multi-Doc readers scanners are way more expensive and use a Unix OS to run those. You get an Xerox rep dressed up run commands on the terminal and a Xerox tech to come out to get those to work should they go down.
