Hey guys

I am on win7 X64, and the machine has been running great until now.

I am getting random AMON issues, and the net result is that EKRN goes nuts and won't come back down. This can come from opening an archive file, or downloading a large file. On my Quad code machine, it goes to 50% and makes the system unstable, and will only yield the machine back if I restart ekrn from process explorer.

A weird note is that from my eset logs, while this is happening, is a message: AMON: released file portloop over and over every 2 seconds.

The only things I can think of that may be playing a part are a recent install of itunes 8 and vmware player. VMware player did install two new network adapters. The machine is fine otherwise, does anyone have a clue?

Thank you.

Well, eset support said win7 is not released yet so they won't help. Bah. I am using RTM, and as an MSDN customer, it is officially released to firms like mine. Maybe it's time to switch A/V again.

Hello dma550,

If you uninstall VMware Player and iTunes does the problem go away? This will help determine if one of those programs are causing a conflict.

I deinstalled vmware player, which I need for work, and am considering deinstalling itunes, which I need for my new iphone.

The problem seems to happen when opening large archive files, even though they are exclude from real time scanning.

I also completely removed and reinstalled nod32 X64 just now and the problem persists. Thanks for your help.
