how come i have an orkut account?

well I have a gmail account but was surpised to find friend requests from orkut in my mail ....surprised because i never created an orkut account...so i went to orkut and my account was there with my gmail details like my name etc open for any one from orkut to search...post scraps. Man does orkut accounts are by default opened for all gmail users......i never knew that....:doubt:

I haven't received an orkut invite yet.
But I see that my gmail account data works for orkut. It asks me for confirmation to open an account.

that's google's one account for all services mumbo-jumbo crap. Have gmail have orkut have picassa web etc have your privacy trashed rather googled or oogled.But using email details for default accounts on social networking sites is pathetic but that's google. anyone can test go to orkut and search for anyone by name if that person has a google account he'll be on orkut

I had this same thing happen with Bebo. I kept being "friended" for a Bebo account that I knew I didn't have. After one too many friend requests from strangers, I went and discovered that somebody had signed me up for Bebo. Apparently, they don't require activation from an email address. Crazy. All the "friends", by the way, were sweet young ladies that had profiles that led to porn sites. One more kind of spam to deal with is what it amounts to.
