Hi mata7,
A version without the Antimalware feature will be offered as an option with the final release versions of 3.0 and above.

Good. The antimalware included in this last beta is a nuisance.

Hi Robin A.,
Can you provide additional details on what you disliked and liked about RVS 2010 and why? Thanks in advance

I tried the beta on a XP SP3 system. The other security programs active were the Windows firewall and avast!.

Briefly, what happened was that RVS kept producing continuously two kinds of messages (sometimes combined) that interfered with the normal use of the computer:

1. False positive malware warning messages. I was unable to get rid of these messages, even after I included the suspected file in the “no-check” list.
The specific file involved was C:\WINDOWS\system32\npmirage.dll, a file dated 31/10/2006 and never reported before as malware. I checked the file with MBAM and it was reported OK.

2. Warnings about the cache running out of space (some 15 GB allocated to it) and asking for a reboot. Apparently, these messages began appearing after I created manually a restore point with System Restore.

I uninstalled the beta, so I cannot do any further checks fot the time being. V. 2 works perfectly for me.

The message deletion issue should be resolved in the current Beta release. I will follow up with the QC team to check this on their next round of testing however. As for the detection of the file, can you send us a copy for testing? Simply place it in a .ZIP or .RAR archive and send it to support (dash) tech (at) returnil (dot) com with a reference to this thread.

The cache in RVS 2010 is dynamic and can be adjusted on-the-fly by changing the percentage of free space allocated for its maximum size. The normal suggestion here would be to increase the percentage in 10% increments until you had arrived at a point where there are no more cache full errors during normal operation. You should also turn RVS Virtualization off when creating restore points as the process of creating a RS will count against your cache size limit...

Thank you for your feedback and we look forward to more as we go forward :)
