The Partition Manager v10.0 Build 7893 (20.03.09 ) Server Edition has a bug when displaying the Drive Serial Number.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Right-click on a basic Seagate Hard Disk in Disk View and select "Properties" from the context menu.
I tried it on models: ST3500418AS and ST31000528AS under Windows XP SP3
THE PROBLEM:
The "Serial Number" appearing in the "General" tab is truncated (the last character is missing).
The following URL states that all Seagate Serial Numbers are 8-characters alphanumeric strings.
http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/warranty_&_returns_assistance/finding_the_model_number/
Paragon Partition Manager v10 lists only the first 7 characters.
Also the following shareware program lists the drive serial number correctly so it is not a problem of a stingy hard drive firmware:
http://www.devlib.net/download/tgetdiskserial.zip
(...use the demo_vcl.exe file inside the archive to obtain the serial number)
