Hi to all!
I am running out my subscription for NIS 2009.
I would like to combine DrWeb and Online Armor.
Do they love each other and is this protection enough? :argh:
Cheers!

Just a few thoughts questions for you:
1) Be sure to get and run the Norton removal utility before proceeding with any replacement then defrag and clean up the register first.
2) What security functions do you intend to get from Dr Web and which OA in your new plan?
3) Suggest you trial them both one by one on your set up before laying out real money. Start with OA then Dr Web and ensure you exclude each from scanning or protecting the other. No conflicting or duplication.
Good luck.

1) I will
2) Scheduled and real time protection against viruses, spyware and other malware from DrWeb. I have OA Premium.
3) Thank you.
Current situation is: I have one year license for DrWeb, NAV2009 and OA Premium
P.S. NAV2009 (I have one year license) + OA Premium, will they run together.
I would like to thank that moderator who moved my post to here as own thread. ;D

I don't find any reason of NAV not working with OA.
I have tried OA with Dr.Web it ran without any problems but make sure that you uninstall NIS properly with its removal tool.
Good Luck:thumb:

Well, with Dr Web and NAV2009 you will have 2 AV's so that is a no-no! Will cause your setup to become unstable. Please do not install both!
You will have to choose Dr Web or NAV2009. You could research those at AV comparatives to help decide.
My advice is un-install all Norton products, defrag and then clean up your register with CCleaner or other such utility. Then install OA Premium and get it working properly. the FW prevents baddies and the AV's scan existing files and if they have good real time also scan incoming files.
Anyway, add the AV of your choice keep it current and scan regularly.
Good luck

as long i sweared on symantec products i never would recommend that bloated
crap again. They may have improved with version 2009, but anyone i know
who used it would not buy it again.
And DrWeb was disappointing for a long time now, i didnt test v5 now.
For a good protection for experienced users i would say that Online Armor,
Comodo (without AV) and Outpost in combination with ESET (EAV), a-squared,
Avira, KAV would be a better combination.
The question from Escalader is really good:
>> What security functions do you intend to get...?
- in general passive system security is important for all
It makes no sense to use tons off security software when malware can turn it
off in milliseconds or has other options to blame (eg unsecure services, enuf rights)
- secure browsing - secure browser - secure clicking by user "do i really want this?"
- additional security in first from any av-engine - somehow i feel better
to have the option to scan certain files offline - on-demand may be enough
here, but in background is not wrong.
- HIPS is icing on the av-engine - it controls the internal actions between programs
- last but not least - a personal firewall (software) to have better control of
in/outbound traffic to lan/web.
But if you your system is clean not really needed. and i has to be configured
well for the specific needs. check the default settings or change them.
but dont use that kind of software if you dont understand the settings.
thats the real big disadvantage - well configured it gives more security,
default or bad settings may reduce the given security dramatically!
