View Full Version : PC freezes then firewall rules gone

trial and error

I KNOW Win7 x64 is still unsupported. (Don't rag on me)

I'm just asking to see if anyone else has had anything this wierd happen. I had a password on the settings. I did disable win defender & firewall before the install.
These are the only times I've gotten a blue screen with Win7, when it restarted the boot settings were messed up. I tried the repair with the windows disc and I got going again. But like I stated all the rules that I made with interactive mode were erased.
I thought it might be the hdds but they checked out ok with a disc check that I forced. ?? 3 year old ADFS Raptors.

It's happened three times since .437 came out, twice in interactive mode once after I switched to normal.

I use a router, Hosts MVPS 7-27-09, Opera 10 v1691, ESS 4.0.437 mostly default settings except manual scanner cranked up.

Any support is appreciated.

hi "trial and error"

ESS product only works without problems in Win7 only if firewall component is completely disabled

to do that follow this steps:

F5 -> Setup -> Personal Firewall -> System integration:
select the option: "Personal firewall is completely disabled"

after this changes you may need to restart your computer...

Really?
Been using it here since the second week of January. The ESS firewall had slowed internet access on XP and then W7, stopped it sometimes but v1050 in June improved that. I removed everything Eset first thing this week, trialing KIS 2010 for now. Damn, been with Eset since NODv2.x. Sadly the rig is faster with KIS installed. I've got to renew or bail early September.

Ok thanks for trying, but I'm not going to disable half a security suite after paying for a full one.
Since I know this forum is the real support for ESET I'll hold out hope for a constructive response.
Eset has been half as good since v3, I'm hanging on to it just from remembering how fantastic it was when it was just NOD32 AV.
I anxoiusly waited for the security suite only to get blocked from the internet off and on.
I'm gonna go the trial software route 'till it gets cold, then see what the security landscape is like after win7 is out.
