No internet

Often i boot my pc which is adsl via a rooter and I cant reach the router with a web browser or even ping it. The side bar loads ok with internet access. I cant get any sites for about 4 mins but as soon as Nod flashes database updated internet access comes back. I notice firefox show connecting to local host with tcip view. I assume its a firewall issue
