Am I missing something? Why are these sites classifying Malware Defender as antispyware rogue? Is the difference with the good software "2009" instead of 2.x?

They are 2 totally different apps...
Malware Defender 200X is a rogue anti-spyware application.
Malware Defender 2.3.2 is a legit and very good HIPS application.

Xaiolin should change the name of his MD to "Torchsoft Antimalware" or something like that.
"Malware Defender" is just too generic -- unless Xaiolin wants to trademark the name & spend the next several years suing scumbags like the proponents of Malware Defender 2009.

Malware Defender great classical HIPS program. A rogue came along some time after with the same name just added 2009 after. HpHosts had TorchSoft site as a bad one. They have now corrected it.

How about Torchsoft HIPS. ;D
No really MalwareDefender is just fine the way it is, if Xiaolin changed the name then some new rogue would just pick a name close to it.

Exactly, when the bad boys smell some success, duplicating a known name is their best option to ""success"", If Xiaolin would name it TorchSoft xxxx, they will need to look somewhere else.
