Hello,
drive copy only allows you to copy one partition to another partition.
drive backup allows you to create an image of partitions and store it for later use if something goes wrong.

I purchased Paragon Drive Backup 9 (Personal Edition) more than a year ago. For me, it's proven to be a solid, reliable imaging program.

However, since taking my $35US, Paragon has given it away at least 2 times, possibly 3 times, at GAOTD. The program is worth every penny I paid for it - yet, I feel cheated.

I wonder how other paying customers feel when they see something they paid for given away for nothing to others.

This is the 32 bit version. When trying to install on 64 bit say's doe not work with this OS. They have a 64 bit version but there not giving that away today.

The beauty of doing that is you can log in with the information they send you and download the installer directly from the site and not be tied into installing it today.;)

Well I finally got my key.
It arrived following the fourth request.

This is a good program. I've already run and restored with a full partition backup and the program was easy to understand and use and it did it's job exactly as advertised.

-And-

While this might be considered as kicking a gift-horse, I do feel the program is really large for a backup/restore application (101 mb).

I visited Paragon's website and downloaded the Rescue Disc Kit Express and
burned a CD as directed and ran it and was pretty happy with what I saw in terms of features.
Better still was the Recovery CD download prompted from the main interface of Drive Backup Pro. It offers even more tools and user options.

All in all, very useful software, and the price is certainly right.

How do you backup an image so that it over-writes the existing image?

I gave the backup an image name and then scheduled a backup with the same name but Paragon copies another image with the same file name but with date extensions so instead of having one image I have two.

I know I can do differential but I would prefer one image over-written.

Something i was looking for,,,but i though BMR was a kind of restore we use an image back-up n restore on other Hardware.

As your definition states, Bare Metal Recovery is simply referring to restoring to a blank hard disk, generally indicating that an image backup was created and you have bootable media to perform the restore from.

I believe what you were thinking of is "Dissimilar Hardware" restore, which most often involves a bare metal restore, but indicates that a significant hardware change is being made, such as a motherboard or disk controller.

All Editions of Drive Backup 9.0 can do both Bare Metal Recovery & Dissimilar Hardware Restore. Paragon calls their dissimilar hardware restore technology "Adaptive Restore". (Drive Backup 9.0 Free does not include Adaptive Restore, but Bare Metal Recovery is possible via bootable CD or Flash)

To Iangh:

If you wish to have a backup overwrite each time it runs, uncheck 'Generate Unique Names' when you get to the scheduler screen of the Backup Wizard. If you have already created the task, and don't wish to recreate it, you can also correct this by editing the script file for the scheduled task.
-Open the Scheduled Tasks Tab inside Drive Backup.
-Right click the task and click 'Edit Script'.
-Locate the 'img = ' line
-Remove the wildcards from the path and/or filename

The wildcards are represented as:
$(YEAR)
$(MONTH)
$(DAY)
$(HOUR)
$(MINUTE)
$(SECOND)

You can also add these wildcards as you see fit. Please note the $ goes outside the ( )'s and all CAPS are required.
