I have one app that is having problem with the firewall (it is internally attempting an ftp from a central site). To get the app to work, I tried to disable the firewall (and the antivirus, antispyware, etc.). Still no luck. The only way I can get the app to work is by removing the entire ESET Smart Security software. So the question, is why can't I simply disable the firewall/antivirus/antispyware to eliminate the influence of ESET Smart Security? FYI, I am running XP x64 Professional. After I figure this problem, I will then turn to modifying rules, etc. to enable app compatibility.

Thanks.

It's possible to do that by going to the setup and changing Personal firewall -> System integration to "Personal firewall is completely disabled". For the time being, ignore the warning that ESS will show up.
