Weather settings on IE8

Just wondering if Eset is blocking me from setting up my weather on Internet Explorer on MSN home page. I cannot get it to work or I should say saved.

Worked fine for me with ESS 4.0.437 on Win7 RC IE8.

I was going to suggest run IE as administrator or enabling cookies but everything IE is virtually default for me and it worked fine without doing anything special.

Also, I just told it to set up in auto on all my settings. Things are getting in some how and I an not d/ling. And its a fresh install XP Pro Sp3 with all updates. Must be just from cruising the web? Any help here? Thanks

Aslo running Malwarebytes too. It also has picked up a few things also. Both were installed the same time after the fresh install. I don't think it's been two weeks yet and I am fighting all these bugs.

Hello btb601,

The ESET software should not block a webpage from allowing you to save your settings. You can always try disabling the firewall to see if this may allow you to save it then.

When browsing the web, be sure you are not clicking on any advertisements or inside any pop-ups that appear on your screen. Many times a pop-up will have options such as Cancel or Continue Unprotected. The best thing to do with a pop-up is to use the keyboard shortcut: ALT+F4.

Try to clear your cookies or temp files maybe there is a problem. Or try turn off active scanning HTTP on port 80 ... is somewhere in settings. For me this is causing big problems on 64bit os.

Thanks for all your help. As for turning off Eset, major brain fart there. But still did not work. I am the administrator so that was not the issue. Cleared all cookies with IE8 and disk cleanup. Still not working. So I came back here and I was still logged on?????? Went to the folder and still had cookies in it. What's up with that. So I cleaned it out manually and now I can set MSN to my liking.

As for opening up pop ups, I don't go there. I have pop ups off in IE. Guess I will keep an eye out and see what happens now with bugs and get back with you. I am use to Zone Alarm, always going asking for permission when I blink.
Now with Eset, I jumped to conclusions.

yes, those cookies will always appear in your Temp folder. sometimes is good to clear them manually, i do that from time to time . And also try to delete also the ones from the "Temporary" folder. sometimes, some applications with malicious programs attached might remain there and it's good to delete them. as for your problem, is it sure you don't have a virus, a worm, something like that? did you try to scan your computer? try to check it. maybe you will find some "surprises" on your computer. we live in the world where wonders happen everyday :P esp in the digital world.

I was using Webroot Window Washer. But it's to pricy. And it cleaned to good, you could not restore anything. As for bugs, the os is fresh with all updates and eset and malwarebytes to run everyday. Thats what got me looking deeper, I had a bug in the temp file Eset found and took care of. It had to come through the web as I have nothing on the computer installed as of yet.
But last night I installed CryptLoad and Malewarebytes said it had a PuP.keylogger in it and deleted it. Then Eset scanned the next day and found this:
C:\System Volume Information\_restore{1CD60AE1-2F2B-4EA7-ACB6-263A7AF0445B}\RP57\A0011593.dll - probably a variant of Win32/TrojanDownloader.Agent trojan - cleaned by deleting - quarantined [1]

Does anyone know about this download manager???? I am keeping an eye on it. I did look it up on the web but did not find anything of value that I trust.
Anyway, thats what kept popping back so I did a fresh os. So I am guessing its this download mananger.
