Hi All

We are a NOD reseller in New Zealand that have used the Anti-Virus products for several years.

Recently I installed the Remote Administrator Console and pushed out an update package from V2.7 to V4 for my client.

The client PCs are all Windows XP Professional.
Have had NOD32 their entire PC life - NO other programs at all.
Firewalls disabled etc etc

I pushed the update out OK and all PCs rebooted fine.

But it appears 6 out of 10 of the computers had a completely broken network stack after this roll out !!

They could not obtain an IP Address, nothing would work and I had to hard reset the Winsock stack in order to get them working again.

This in my opinion was not good and I have several hundred more machines to roll out to but I want feedback but anyone that can help me understand what may have gone wrong ?

The version I pushed out was 4.0.437 NOD32 Anti-Virus NOT the Smart Security package.
I created a nod configuration file which pointed each client back to my RAC Server.

I am disappointed it ended this way and would love help to understand what exactly could have gone wrong ?

Should I have removed V2 and rebooted each PC first ?? seems to defeat the purpose some what if I have to do that but I am open to ideas.

Thanks muchly in advance

Ryan

I *never* push out updates from one major version to another, you're only asking for problems (like this)...

And it certainly isn't just NOD32 that will have problems like this.

First, I do the workstations in batches:

1. remotely uninstall, reboot...

2. reboot again for good measure...

3. push out a fresh install, but only after you have tested the configuration you will be using...

Hello syph0n,

While you can upgrade from 2.7 to 4 by push installing, we recommend whenever upgrading to a newer version to uninstall first. That way there are no files or drivers left over that can cause conflicts.
