I am trying to run smart security on an older PC.

Specs:

Asus NForce 2 motherboard
AMD Athlon XP 3200 processor
2 GB RAM
2.33 Ghz

Every time I run a system scan the computer crashes. It will completely shut off with no warning.

Is this system too out of date to run this software?

TIA

not old for the software. does it crash on a particular file or as soon as you start scan?
disable autoreboot and post error message, also check event viewer logs for errors.

We have machines running ESS which are a LOT lesser specs than yours. :)

disabling auto reboot seemed to help. It made it all the way through the scan without problems. now it seems to be working fine even with autoreboot turned back on.

Strange. Well, at least it's working again! ;D

Hello,

Given the age of the computer, perhaps an issue with failing hardware or overheating?

You might want to check the computer's memory with a program like MemTest86+ to see if one of the memory modules has failed and a program like Prime95 can be used to stress the CPU.
