SpywareBlaster 4.2 "Error: Access Violation at 0x73483F5A..."

Hello all,

I just installed SpywareBlaster 4.2. When I go to start it up, I recieve an error message stating "Error: Access violation at 0X7348F5A (tried to read from 0x00000014), program terminated." I've uninstalled it, reboot, and reinstall with the same results. Has anyone else run into this?

FireFox 3.5.1
SpywareBlaster 4.2
Spybot S&D 1.6.2.46

I uninstalled Firefox (was 3.0), SB, and S&D. Then reinstalled all three. Currently I have nothing immunized in S&D. I still get the same error dialog when I open SB.

I looked in the hostperm.1 file for Mozilla and found no "ß" characters. (as in meine-Grußkarten.de like the other forum said)

Please try downloading and installing the latest Microsoft VB 6.0 SP6 Run-Times:

If the problem is being caused by a corrupted or older version of a required support file, that should fix it. Please let me know if it helps.
