Hi, I cannot re install the programme. I was getting an error message on the splash screen the day after installation saying there was fatal error and the programme needed to be installed again. It appeared to install and work ok for one day, although I had not got round to inputting my licence key yet.

Today, got the error message, so uninstalled from control panel. I got messages saying some files were in use, but the operation finished. However, it has left an ESET file in programme files and registry entries I cannot delete, when I try , it says I need permission.

When I try and re install, it wont complete the install as it say that ESET service is in use.

So, I appear to stuck, half uninstalled and unable to re install. Can anyone help?

PS< I am logged on as administrator.

Thx, Mark

Hi, I have re installed windows vista64, updated to service pack 2

I have re installed NOD32 on a clean windows install. Straight away I get the error saying i need to re install. Also, it will not update or let me enter my serial number, I type in the user name and password, press ok and nothing happens.

This is really strange as I had it functioning perfectly on my previous vista64SP2 install

I tried following the instructions in the knowledge base article, but the update button was already unchecked and all 3 boxes in the last section were already checked, so there was nothing to change. Restarting did nothing.

Any ideas?

thx, Mark

Hello markturner,

When installing, you enter your Username and Password there. If it is entered correctly, you do not have to enter it once the software is installed. Are you installing the newest build from our website or from a CD? If you are installing from a CD, please download from http://eset.com/download and install that one.

Hi, I am still not able to get the product working properly.

It is installed, but unless I disable in MSconfig at start up, it blue screens my PC at start up. It runs ok if I use the GUI icon in the programme files folder.

However, despite me entering my user name and password, it still thinks it is the trial version.

Also, I get error message on the GUI saying "Analysis of application protocols will not function"

Deciding to try and re install (again....) I now find that the programme does not appear in the list of installed programmes in control pane,, so I cannot un install it properly. It also does not appear in the Start / Programmes / menu.

How can I uninstall correctly and what does the problem appear to be?

Before i re installed windows, i had the programme installed and running fine on the same PC.

Any help appreciated, I have just downloaded the latest version.

Thx, Mark

Try the following:
1, uninstall EAV per the instructions here (http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2289&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1248372041812)
2, download and install the latest version of EAV from here (http://www.eset.com/download/index.php).

Should the problem persist, try installing the latest version 3 (3.0.684) to see if it makes a difference.

hi, thx for the advice. Is the latest version 3 available from the link you gave, or are there 2 current versions, 3 and ( presume) 2? Is 3 a beta or something?

And what is the difference between esetnod32 antivirus and NOD32 v2 antivirus ? are they 2 differnt things? they have different forums

cheers, mark

V2 is outdated and should not be installed unless you're runniong Windows 95/98/ME or MS Exchange server. The most current version available is 4.0.437 with improved cleaning and detection compared to v2. V3 is the predecessor of v4. One of its shortcomings is that it does not clean out resistant threats completely.

Hi, thx for clearing that up, I am using ESETNOD32 antivirus, however I am still confused by your first statement, You say try installing the latest version from "here", a link which takes you where you can download, presumably the latest version.

But then you say if that does not work, try version 3 . Where do I get version 3?

Is it newer than the latest version found at the link you gave?

I have downloaded and have ready to re install, a file called EAV_nt64_enu, size is 33.7MB, modified on 3/5/2009. Is this the correct file? ( I am running 64 bit vista BTW)

Sorry to be dense, but want to get this right

Yes, that's correct. You needn't install v3 as millions of people are using v4 with no problems.
