Please can you tell me how to block adds in internet explorer

If you are using IE8 you can try http://www.neowin.net/news/main/09/04/02/ie8-ad-blocking-with-the-inprivate-filter

Hostsman will also work http://www.abelhadigital.com/

Some suites like Outpost and KIS have an adfilter.

There are also local proxy based solutions but I have not tried them. Maybe others can help.

If you are using IE7 , you can try IE7Pro (http://ie7pro.com/)
It works with IE8 too for me. :)
