Under XP and Vista 64 bit with the latest firewall Firefox suddenly slows down while IE would be fine. Anyway today I noticed that the Eset smart security was doing something when the slow down started. I ran the mouse over it and it mentioned startup scanner which seemed strange as the pc had been on foru four hours.
Now as soon as this finished Firefox became usable again.
The problem doesn't occur with version 3 of smart security only 4

Hi the start up scan occurs when you start up the PC and when new updates and downloaded.

I agree that the start up scans are a somewhat too heavy and take too long.

Like my PC is up and running but because of the scan I have to wait longer till it's finished.

I posted this so will copy it here :

Same as with Vista+SP2.

I do not think ESET will ever fix issues of the Web+HTTP Scanner slowing down WWW.

The issue was brushed aside due to the Firewall issues now finally fixed.

Solution to get Web fast again is disable them 2 settings (think 1 disables the other anyhow)

Do not create duplicates of your posts as we won't post replies to the very same post in different threads.
