I have DD recovery media on a 1GB USB which works perfectly fine on 4 machines (2xp, 1vista32, 1vista64)

I then installed windows7 on the vista32 machine and it dual-booted fine.

I subsequently did many partiiton moves, resizing, etc all worked fine.

After removing the window7 partition, the recovery thumb drive boots ok into the Acronis selection window. HOWEVER, while DD safe mode, and TI full work ok, DD Full Version gives an error "DD Can;t find any hard disks".

What does this error mean and how can I fix it:

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff:

The full-mode versions of DD and TI are Linux-based. The error message means that the full-mode version of DD does not have the correct Linux driver for your one machine. Since DD has not been updated for about 2 years, its Linux driver database is getting out of date. But note that the full-mode version of TI 2009 works fine with the machine; that's because its Linux drivers are recent (a few months old at most).

You could contact Acronis support on their website via Live Chat and ask for an updated ISO image of the DD 10 recovery environment. But note that the safe-mode version, which is DOS-based, is perfectly adequate for doing partition operations on your internal disk.

Thank you for the reply.

I have both tools licensed and both installed on the recovery media. I guess it's too much to assume that the tools would share the latest drivers when installed on the same disk/thumbdrive. But, at least this explains why TI recognizes the same disk that DD does not
