Acronis DD Boot disk

I have recently created a bootable disk for Disk director 10 build (2160) and it does not see my internal SATA drive but does find my external HDD. Anybody able to help me resolve this prob?

Welcome to the forum. This can happen if your hardware is newer than the last release (build 2160) of DD, which is now about 2 years old. The "Full" mode version of DD uses Linux as the operating system and build 2160 may not contain the needed Linux hardware driver for your disk.

Try booting into the "Safe" mode version instead. It is DOS-based and should see your internal disk.

You can contact Acronis and ask them for a special version of Disk Director Linux CD. You can login to your account and make this request. That special version recognizes my P45 chipset and all my SATA HDs in full mode.

I have just burned a bootable Disk Director CD, as recommended by Acronis Support staff, which starts by displaying a brown screen with a list of 6 items, but no recognisable (to me) instructions.
When I just leave it to run, I see a screen similar to the Windows executable.
The problem is that I seem to have no way of navigating around the screen to do anything with it.
I can't even get at the red "X" box to exit !
How do I use this screen, please?

Welcome to the forum. This is what the main screen of the Acronis DD Boot disk will look like, assuming that you have included both full and safe-mode versions of DD. The figure below also includes True Image, which you may not have unless you have purchased both programs.

No, I get nowhere near a screen like that.
I see a brown screen with yellow text, with six numbered (presumably) choices, but I do not know how to pick a choice nor which choice to pick.

It may have a custom menu/loader.

Can you select an entry by the number? For example, press "1" and then ENTER (if necessary) to boot entry 1.

Can you post a screenshot so we can see what you're seeing?

I do not know how to send a screenshot while I am booting from the CD.

I have found that the 6 lines do form a menu, and I can specify a number via the keyboard.
Three of the menus appear to be running some sort of code with which I am not familiar, and then allow me (effectively) only to key in "exit" at a DOS-type screen to do anything (ie shutdown)

The other three menus open various splash screens, of which one actually, but very briefly, allowed mouse cursor control - but when I tried to restart with that menu, no cursor control was available.

None of these three has allowed me to close (exit) the form by clicking on the red "X" - I have to turn the PC off at the wall-supply.

I propose to email the Acronis support to see if they can advise me further . . .

To get a screen shot while booting from the CD you could take a photo with a digital camera. It may be enough if you just list the titles of the six options the CD is presenting; they may give us enough of a hint to advise you.

You may be able to close the program from the red X by pressing the tab key to move the cursor to the X, and then hitting Enter.

MudCrab is correct; this is not the standard Acronis boot CD but rather must be a special version that they have given you to help figure out why the standard CD will not boot on your PC.

Thank you all for your help and encouragement. The support staff at Acronis advised me that I had been allowed to download a copy of Acronis Bootable Rescue Media, advised me which parameter to choose, and I have been able to arrange my Hard Drive with the Partitions that I wanted.
I now need to pass my data from old PC, with XP, to new PC, with Vista, via a wired network . . .
