Since I put SP1 and SP2 on my puter and interactive mode I get the following so
much it is driving me crazy. They are all using "svchost". Why should I supply Microsoft
with data about my puter?

Remote Computer -------------- Remote Port
ff02::1:3----------------------------- 5355(llMnr)
239.255.255.250---------------- 3702(3702)
224.0.0.252----------------------- 5355(llmnr)
ff02::c------------------------------- 3702(3702)
ff02::1:2---------------------------- 547(dhcpv6-server)
cdn-68-142-101-254-mnl.llnw.net68.142.101.254)
---------------------------------------- 80(http)
bay24-f40.bay24.hotmail.com(64.4.18.90)
--------------------------------------- 427(427)
192.168.1.95

I am also running PcLinuxOS and I never see any of this.
Is it safe the make a rule for these?????

Surely I'm not the only one having problems with this interference by Microsoft?

and don't see interference, only your normal browsing + few regular connections on your network. Change from interactive to automatic filtering with exceptions mode

For instance, port 5355 is used by Link Local Multicast Name Resolution (LLMNR) - a protocol based on the Domain Name System (DNS) packet format that allows both IPv4 and IPv6 hosts to perform name resolution for hosts on the same local link. It is included in Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7.

The problem is it should be a default firewall rule see http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=242640

I thank you all for taking your time to respond.
I don't like any automatic settings as I like to know what's going on in my puter.
Your responses addressed two items on my list.
I'm stiil confused as to whether I should make a rule for the llmnr.
Have no idea what to do with the others.

At the present time so many of these windows pop up on my screen that it is
almost impossible to do any work. I deny all of them...
