How many infected files did you find on your machine in 2008?

I might better answer the question, how many infected files did your security programs alert you to before they were allowed onto your machine... because none made it, and some tried. :)

Avira detected about 20 (which means, they were denied access and deleted) all from USB flash drives plugged by third party into my computer while disconnected from the internet. If Avira missed anything, it certainly didn't make it through the shadow session of Shadow Defender or DeepFreeze (I had DeepFreeze for a long time before SD).

I love how people say that. Not that this case in particular must be it, but the sentence in the words of something like: "I never got infected" is so lame as you can't know - you only know if the software you used detected something or not. ;D

I don't recall exactly how many infected files I encountered last year, but I remember few trojans couldn't make it to my system thanks to Kaspersky webav.

I didn't got infected in 2008. However, I had to disinfect my sisters PC once in 2008. That was all!

I download some malware that was accidentally posted live link in eset sub forums but i didnt run it and simply sent it to my AV vendor since it didn't detect it.

Infected is a matter of definition. If a heuristic says infected it mostly means that the file is packed, crypted or protected, nothing else. At least 30-40% of those red alerts are meaningless. Therefore I understand wilders decision to not post any vt results in here.

Zero. Some tried but my hardened system and security stopped them cold.
