no weekend updates

I like that ESET has worked to get v4 to work better but this is the 3rd weekend in a row with 0 updates, heuristics is nice to have but viruses never rest , curious as to what gives...

Very true, I noticed Avira has added almost 3500 ddefinitions since Eset's last update.

Which were most likely covered by ESET's hundreds of thousands of heuristic signatures, otherwise, you'd see a TON more viruses described on the update page.

Yea, I will say Eset has good heuristics, but Avira has proven that they are not exactly a slouch in that department either. I am not knocking Eset, I just wish they were a little better at adding signatures, as larryb52 said, the virus writers have proven they never rest.

It usually happens at weekends, but if anything needs doing then they do it.

I guess I just feel a little more protected when I see the little update ballon pop up at least once a day...:)

True, they do have people working on weekends but it's a much lower count. Excluding the random times they rush something out, ESET has proved time and again they are extremely paranoid about releasing things that cause breakage. This has been proven with PCU's, more recently with the firewall module, and again also on weekend updates, they tend to wait until a full testing workforce is available (Monday).

They made up for it with 4 updates being released today. It's an extra long weekend in the U.S. as well because of Memorial Day today. As long as the product is keeping you safe from viruses and other malware and is being updated on a consistent basis most of the time (which it is) you should feel safe.

Just so you know, their AV signatures is all done in Slovakia, nothing really important in the software is written in the US, except maybe localization.

English localization is only reviewed by colleagues form the US ;)
