Karen's Directory Printer

Site:
http://www.karenware.com/powertools/ptdirprn.asp

Karen has several nice, free utilities.
Directory Printer is one of them.
It gives you several nice features.
For example: you can not only print a directory list, you can also save it to disk. For users of TDS-3 who would like to add files to their crcfiles.txt for the CRC32-checking, this is a nice option.

There are several options.
I'll give you a few screenshots and an example of the AdAware directory.

The screenshots are made from version 4.0.2 of Karen's Directory Printer.
I have removed some info about other directories on my system ;)

You'll see that you can enable all kind of options.

The first screenshot shows you the options for printing:

The second screenshot shows you the options for saving to disk:

The third screenshot shows you the possibility that Directory Printer shows up in your right-click context menu in Windows Explorer for folders:

And here comes the example where I've let it make a list of the files in the AdAware directory and saving it to disk.

Just for the example I only choose the files in the main directory of AdAware, and to give only their full path/name

Karenware has many very useful utilities. I wouldn't be without Karens Showstopper.
I have PowerDesk, so I don't need the Directory printer, but I can see how it would be very handy for anyone who does not have that ability with some other program.

Hi Root !

Yes, I too have PowerDesk Pro (not-free, from VCOM, formerly from Ontrack). It's very nice.

For printing/saving a directory list there is for example also the free rjhExtensions
http://www.rjhsoftware.com/rjhextensions/

I have written a little bit about it, and about some other utilities for your right-click-context-menu in Windows Explorer, in this older thread:

;) Hi Jan!

You may note that I made a new topic post on this subject two hours before this one here in General Software and Services? I won't hold it against you as you are my friend. I deleted my earlier post. :)

What's more important here is to let people know about Directory Printer. What a beautiful app, an excellent way to check errors in hexadecimal strings and get a system snapshot that actually makes sense even to non-techs!

I am happy you like KarenWare too! I love her newsletters. They're human. :)

Your friend,

Larry

Hi Larry !

My apologies to you my friend !!!
I didn't see your thread, that's my fault. Of course I wouldn't have started a new thread if I had seen yours.

Hey, did you see that Karen has published a newer version: it is now 4.1.1 :)

Sorry again Larry !

Warm regards from your friend, Jan.

:) Thanks Jan!

No worries. You gotta love someone who busts their butt like Karen does! Instead of complaining they are doing something that really helps the rest of us (while doing what they love). The least we can do is spread the word. ;)
