I finally took the plunge and have to admit I'm quite impressed with its' speed. Not sure I'm ready to give up all of my Firefox conveniences though. It would be even faster if it didn't load adds. I tried to install an Adblock+ plus version for Chrome and it completely crashed it.

Suggestions? Yeah, speed isn't everything. Go back to FF and have fun. ;D

I'll disagree with that. People make such a fuss about Vista not being snappy as XP, but then let's not be too picky about Firefox being slower than Chrome. A fairly dissonant argument.

Lack of speed in browsing is the #1 most annoying thing for me, so I'll have to vote for speed also.

Honestly, I can't discern any difference between Chrome and Firefox rendering pages. What I do like about it though, is that it starts sandboxed sessions immediately. I tend to not leave the desktop pc browser open and sandboxed Firefox sessions take double digit seconds to start on this XP machine. If I just want to check on something real quick I've been using Chrome. My Ff setup is to much to my liking to abandon it. On my vista laptop, sandboxed sessions pretty much start without issue so I probably won't even try it.

Yep! :thumb:
I use Fx almost exclusively but d/l the latest Chromium builds (portable) as sort of a backup and, honestly, just for laughs (see the "time-waster thread"). I hardly ever use IE.
I have noticed that Chromium seems to load faster, particularly on an older and less capable machine. Also, the multi-threaded, sandboxed tab design (or whatever the heck it's called) is a nice feature. Conversely, the appearance of the thing is nothing short of an abomination, IMHO. Too bad because "Chromium" is kind of a sexy word yet they made the browser look like a component I might find in my dog's stool (hey, could there actually be chromium in that stuff?). Maybe one day they'll stop hitting each build with an ugly stick.

Which Adblock+ extension were you trying to install?

I like it, personally. Lots of real-screen estate and minimal clutter. I'm glad Google tried something new instead of sticking to traditional designs, but I guess you can't please everyone.

Ad Muncher v4.73 Beta works perfectly with it, but it's not free.

Try AdSweep (http://www.adsweep.org/)... ;)

I can't find the page now, however, I believe it was AdP/Seamonkey site. Not sure which search engine I found the link on. On another note, for those following this thread, Chrome and Sandboxie indeed play great together! Chrome just renders my home page in a few seconds sandboxed!

But it's impossible to add own expressions! >:(
Is there no way to hide the ads with stylesheets? :doubt:

Er, I think it goes without saying that extensions written for Fx/SeaMonkey aren't going to work in Chrome...
AdSweep itself is more of an element hider. To prevent ads from being downloaded entirely, you might want to use it alongside SRWare Iron (http://www.srware.net/en/software_srware_iron.php), Privoxy (http://www.privoxy.org/), or a good hosts file (http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm).

If it's impossible, then the script couldn't have been created in the first place. More like you don't know how.

Maybe, that's also a problem :( I think I should try a hosts file?

Yes, Firefox with Adblock Plus is simple and effective :)

Do you mean the stylesheets?

It seems you can define it under js file, but I don't have the certain...

Can't argue with that. Adblock probably sets the bar for adblockers, save for the fact that it only supports Firefox and some Gecko derivatives.
Right now it's possible to get adblocking in Chrome, but none of the available options can match Adblock in power and versatility.

Do you also have this mutilated status bar? ::)

That's by design. The status bar appears and disappears as needed to conserve space.

Check the PCMag review of Chrome3 and you'll see what is changed. No drastic changes

Me either, actually Firefox is faster with 30 addons installed because i have the profile and page cache running in RamDisk. Chrome is ~2 seconds faster on startup, but Firefox is faster rendering pages which is fine because i only launch my browser once a day and it stays open.
As for screen real estate, identical up in the top bar:
212410
The toolbar with Tools, Edit View etc is a drop down button beside Stop, Reload and Home buttons. Down the bottom i lose a 5mm strip in the status bar, but it contains a ton of options and info and Chromes munged fade in/out version is annoying.
So Chrome for me is a massive step backwards, i couldn't cripple functionality and look at that hideous UI all day to gain 2 seconds on boot time.
