Avira Update and Daily Reboot?

So it's starting to annoy me now. I have Avira Personal Edition 9 on a laptop. Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit. It is set to update every 24 hours, however after each update it tells me that it needs to restart before I am protected. The question is, why can't it apply updates without a reboot? I can appreciate the need for bi-weekly reboots, but daily?

Did you by any chance disable the notifier? If so, this is the probable cause of your problem. One way to get around this is to block the notifier with a decent firewall.

I had the same problem.

After 3 uninstall/reinstalls I finally left the stupid nag screen, aka notifier, and guess what....everything started working perfectly again ??? .
Go figure.
