I installed the DDS yesterday and have had nothing but problems. I'm separating the issues into separate threads. When I run the Media Builder ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis\MediaBuilder\MediaBuilder.exe") application it crashes as soon as I specify an output format and location and tell it to proceed. I'm running on Vista Home Premium x64.

I already posted in the other thread about making the CD as a possible solution since the Windows reboot isn't working.

If you have errors with Media Builder, you may need to contact Acronis Support and ask for an ISO file so you don't need to create one. If you have another computer available or a VM setup, you could try creating the DD CD (or ISO file) from there.

how do you get in touch w/the support dept? i sent an email through their "Contact" page but i've been reading very negative stories regarding their service so i'm doubtful that they're going to respond any time soon.

I ran into a similar problem this week end. I attempted to make a new bootable media. Kept getting error message that said I needed to reinstall media maker software. I uninstalled completely. Then reinstalled both Disk Director and Acronis home 2009. Received same message regardless of which application I attemtped to create a bootable media. Couldn't do it with Disk Director 10 or TrueImage Home 2009. Both pointed to reinsalling media maker application.

Whassup?

unfortunately, its a non issue because i used another machine to create a bootable disc which worked but disk director does not recognize my machine's hard drive. just for kicks i booted my laptop (Dell Latitude D630) with disk director and it did not recognize a hard drive on that machine either.

i have to say this has been one of the most disappointing experiences i've ever had with a software application and i've been a programmer for 20 years. never have i seen a shrink wrapped application suite experience so many failure modes. i'm sure much of this is out of your control so i'm not trying to give you a hard time personally but if what i'm reading is true about disk director not being updated to recognize hardware manufactured in the last two years, that is ridiculous.

i have disputed the charge for the software with my credit card company and have informed Cleverbridge they won't be paid for this software.
