(1.) No, this is not an A vs. B thread about AVs - it's about the features of two products of the same company; Kaspersky. What I'm wondering is how the proactive features like HIPS and filtering are available in comparison between the AV and the full featured security suite, and in particular the 2010 edition as that's what's current right now, even though it's beta.

(2.) Additionally, can you exclude features that you don't want in any of the softwares, e.g. for example, as in my case I don't want the FW - can I exclude that during the installation of the IS in that case?

(3.) Last, but not least - are the default settings for the Automatic Mode better in the 2010 edition? Then I'm thinking about for example detection and protection against adware not being a part of 2009 default Automatic Mode settings - and so on.

Hello, I havent tried it, so cannot comment on the comparison, but 1. and 2. can change throughout the development process, so take comments about that with a little uncertainty whether it will be in the release AV or not.

2. Not sure, but i'm guessing its a yes - wait for someone to verify

1) In v2009 the PDM in the suite and the AV were the same, unlike in 2010. KIS 2010 (the suite) has PDM + HIPS, KAV (AV) doesn't have HIPS but has a bit improved PDM compared to KIS's PDM, partially covering for the missing HIPS. ((KAV PDM) << (KIS HIPS + PDM))
2) It's modular, as in 2009. (even a bit more than 2009...)
3) You need to check if Other programs are enabled in Threat categories, regardles of version. If it is it should remove them automatically (with a backup just in case of course)

Thank you for the answers - most appreciated. :)
