A member of our support team has just brought to my attention the effectiveness of Benign in protecting PC users from the latest variant of Bagel/Beagle. I thought you might be interested...

The new virus variant looks like Beagle.H. worm At this stage ist seems unlikely that the AV programs will be able to stop it as they cannot access the contents of the WinZip file to check if in fact a virus is present.
Under the default security profile options of Benign, a .zip file is not a file extension which is blocked or renamed.
However, you can protect yourself from worms like Bagel/Beagle/Mimail etc by adding the .zip file extension manually in Benign by:
Select Tools>>Options>>Security profiles>>Add (the Add button beneath the File Extensions box) Enter File extensions: zip
Mime type application/x-compressed
Click the radio button to indicate the Action you wish Benign to take: Block, Rename or Allow.
Select OK. (We suggest 'rename' so as not to block .zip files which are important
