The only thing good about AVG Free is its price.

Even the paid version has dismal detection.

There are many better choices.

If you want a good overall detection (viruses, worms, trojan and other malwares). AVG is not recommended.

If you want a primary protection against ITW malware (almost viruses, worms). AVG should be good for you like other AVs do.

The amount of time AVG has failed in Virus Bulletin test is not mean that AVG fail to protect you against ITW malware. But AVG and other AVs always fail because other reasons.

Hi clive_20,
I have been using AVG free for quite few months and then upgraded to licensed AVG pro 7
I am yet to be affected and am not only happy but satisfied more than enough.
tests are not last words, and if you go by tests NAV is one to try out most time... but for machine slow down tremendously and else. I am not telling NAV is totally bad but AVG rocks

I've had no problems with AVG, I've used it for 3 years or so, I've YET to get a SINGLE virus, the few times that viruses came close, AVG alerted me of, I myself think AVG is one of the best (In my opinion)
