Gone are the days of the long-winded or too sparse knowledge base articles that do little to describe what’s included in the actual service pack or that include details that may not be what you are looking for. In their place are what we hope are more user-friendly and informative KB’s. The technical information still exists, but it has been pulled from the main KB articles and now will live on TechNet. And, back by popular demand, is the spreadsheet listing individual bugs that were fixed across all of our products" }-Microsoft (http://blogs.technet.com/office_sustained_engineering/default.aspx)

My PCs just picked up SP2 and 7 other updates for Office 2007. Total size 305mb (Vista x64). Currently downloading. :)

There is nothing mentioned about an actual update/download for Office 2007 SP2 neither on the Download center , nor in office.microsoft.com ?

Thanks, ronjor!

Downloaded, installed, and appears to be working well. OTOH, I now seem to be missing a little over 1 gig of disk space. Not a big issue or anything but kind of strange considering the entire download, IIRC, was ~300MB.

Are you using Vista? If so, maybe the Volume Shadow Copy service copied files which were being replaced. Not sure though.

Hi, Ade 1.

No, this install was on XP Pro (SP3). At least part of the 1GB+ appears to have been a bunch of junk trapped in the SoftwareDistribution\Download folder; in the 350MB range.

I dumped the contents of that folder so now I'm down to a mere ~800MB of "bloat". ???

The 300+MB of the update probably expanded out to twice that when it installed, so that plus the original 300 would get you to around 800 or so.

Well, after doing a bit of PC proctology, I found ~400MB worth of .msp (update package) files in the Windows Installer directory related to the SP install. Sheesh!
