Ooops, I haven't thought of it. Too late to edit I guess. :-[
BTW, never? Hmmmm, no offense, but isn't it kind of 'unusual'? :o

I think you should kill the poll and start another one. Lots of us are very hostile to Windows Genuine Advantage, and don't update.

I only take critical updates after sorting through them.

I have Windows Update set to check for updates but let me decide which and when to download and install.

So I pick and choose which.

As for when, I take a full backup every Monday, so the monthly Microsoft updates (second Tuesday) are almost harmless as I can completely back them out without much time/data loss delta.

This poll needs to be more specific. Is it just for the operating system or is user software included? What about BIOS, firmware, etc, is this included? Is it referring just to Microsoft/Windows Update?

I don't allow my PC access to Windows Update. Except for this 2K system, my operating systems are no longer supported. I use unofficial updates from other sources. Sometimes I extract individual files/components from offline copies of Windows updates. I do update user software when I feel it's necessary, which is not every time a new version comes out.

Alright, I guess this poll is careless.
Sorry guys, I should have thought thorughly before I posted it.
How do I shut it down?
Thanks.

I do all manually and check every Tuesday.

I use Windows to Notify me but don't automatically download or install them so that I can wait to see if they break anything while being protected with the software I use at the firewall and computer and also still able to check at the website for optional software including hardware and beta.

If you wish you can turn off the updates on your computer from the website...

I view Windows Genuine Advantage as being part of the cost of using Windows.

I always update regularly every Tuesday, and I can't remember ever having any problem (although I back up my system just in case). Not to download the updates as a retaliation against 'Windows Genuine Advantage' is counterproductive, conficker virus variants infected mostly machines which didn't download the patches. If you really have something against Windows monitoring systems, you ought to use Linux or Macs.

I do important and recommended. I don't do optional because they're usually just drivers I don't need and if I do need them, I'd prefer to get them off the official manufactorer website.

Most..but not all...I usually don't take Microsoft drivers in the Optional section.
I manage my clients networks via WSUS.

I build systems, and design/create applications.. I say build a system disable the updates then go into services and stop the service for updates. Then go into System and click on udpates and disable that again to stop the darn update feature from starting..

I cant vote on the pole, so I will vote "None Of the Above"

I install Important, some recommended, and most optional Updates, I read and choose which updates I find useful for my needs, If you don't update your machine, you leave it vulnerable to many new threats, and this is not an option for me!

I update OS/Repair using Rising PC Doctor I have Windows Update disabled! Before I use to think Updates wasn't norm, but it's better to update the system to tighten security hole leaks, fix memory leaks and etc. SP stuff yes but those into between need to be applied.
